A scandalous decision has been issued by the Court of Cassation regarding the defendants of the armed attack carried out against people who went to the Reina nightclub to celebrate the arrival of 2017. The 1,432-year prison sentence given to the detained defendant İlyas Mamaşaripov, who was tried on the grounds that he assisted the attacker, Uzbekistan citizen Abdulkadir Masharipov, and was one of the planners of the terrorist attack, has been overturned by the Court of Cassation.

A decision that has drawn reaction has been issued by the Court of Cassation regarding the defendants in the attack targeting those who went to the Reina nightclub to celebrate the arrival of 2017, in which 39 people lost their lives and 78 people were injured.
"Abu Muhammad al-Khorasani", the codename for Uzbekistan citizen Abdulkadir Masharipov, carried out the attack. The panel, which sentenced the detained defendant İlyas Mamaşaripov—who was tried on the grounds that he assisted Masharipov and was one of the planners of the terrorist attack—to 20 years in prison for "aiding in the violation of the Constitution," also sentenced the defendant to 1,432 years in prison for "aiding in premeditated murder" against 39 people and "aiding in the attempted premeditated murder" of 79 people.
The 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation has overturned the 1,432-year prison sentence given to İlyas Mamaşaripov.
In the attack carried out at the Reina nightclub as 2017 began, Masharipov, who entered the venue, first martyred police officer Burak Yıldız.
