Why did he take Narin's body?

Bahtiyar gave his first statement at the Bağlar District Gendarmerie Command on the night of September 9 at 00:52. In this statement, he explained why he took Narin's body as follows: “(Salim Güran) pointed to something wrapped in a blanket on the front passenger seat of the vehicle and said, ‘You will destroy this.’ I approached the thing he pointed to, and when I looked, I saw a motionless human wrapped in a blanket. I was surprised and hesitated. Salim Güran said to me, ‘Think of the family, I will give you 200 thousand liras.’”

At the prosecutor's office, he changed this statement and claimed that he was forced to take the body because he was threatened with death by Salim Güran. Repeating this in his statement to the judge, he said: “The statement I gave at the prosecutor's office, where Salim said to me, ‘I killed Arif’s daughter, and you will take this body and destroy it. Otherwise, I will kill you and your family,’ is true. I had not mentioned this situation in my previous statement because I was afraid of Salim Güran.”

Where and with whom did he put the body in the sack?

In his statement to the gendarmerie, Nevzat Bahtiyar described what he did after receiving the body from uncle Salim Güran as follows: “He addressed me and said, ‘Do you have a bag in your vehicle?’ I took a sack, the color of which I do not remember, from the trunk of my vehicle and gave it to Salim Güran. We put the child, who was wrapped in a blanket, into the sack together.”

Bahtiyar later changed this part of his statement during his testimony to the prosecutor and the judge, saying, “Later, I placed Narin’s body into the sack by myself at my own residence.”

What did he do after taking the body?

In his gendarmerie statement, he described what he did after taking the body as follows: “I went down by the cemetery towards the Villas area (…) I drove down the stabilized road next to the creek and looked for a suitable place. I stopped my vehicle by the side of the creek.”

However, both in the prosecutor's office and before the judge, he stated that he went home after taking the body.

Did he know whose body it was?

In his statement to the gendarmerie, Nevzat Bahtiyar claimed that he did not know whose body was in the sack, stating: "While we were putting it in the sack together, I did not realize whether the body was Narin Güran's. It was when I went down to the stream bed and tied the mouth of the sack that I realized the body was Narin Güran's."

However, in his statement to the prosecutor's office and the court, he claimed that Salim Güran had told him, "I killed Arif's daughter," meaning he had stated that he knew from the beginning that the body he was putting in the sack was Narin's.

In his gendarmerie statement, he described the bond of friendship between them by saying, "We drink tea, eat meals, and sometimes go to Diyarbakır. We were on intimate terms."
