537 branches could close! Flash decision from KFC and Pizza Hut

537 branches of the Pizza Hut and KFC brands, which are consumed by many people in Turkey, are facing the risk of closure. The company named 'Yum! Brands', which owns and operates all KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey, announced that it has terminated the franchise agreement on the grounds that both brands failed to meet the company's standards.

The statement included the phrase, "The termination affects 283 KFC and 254 Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey, and Yum! Brands expects these restaurants to close, at least temporarily."

In the statement made by Yum! Brands, it was stated that the franchise agreement with İş Gıda A.Ş., which is the owner and operator of all KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey, was terminated because İş Gıda failed to meet Yum! Brands' standards.

Yum! Brands Chief Financial Officer Chris Turner stated in his announcement, "Having competent, well-capitalized, and committed 3C franchise partners is critical to our business. While we strive every day to provide them with the support and tools necessary for success, we also expect our partners to deliver a high-quality experience to our customers. Prior to the termination, we at Yum! Brands worked for several months to resolve the issues and provide support. However, İş Gıda was unable to maintain compliance with our standards and failed to uphold the fundamental provisions of our franchise agreements."

According to the report in Habertürk, while the termination affects 283 KFC and 254 Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey, Yum! Brands stated in the announcement that they expect these restaurants to close, at least temporarily. In the Yum! Brands statement, it was said, "While we place great importance on the loyalty of Turkish consumers, we remain committed to the region and are working to reopen as many restaurants as possible in the future."

Yum! Brands also stated that they have initiated legal action under the terminated franchise agreements.
