More than 600 thousand public workers have focused on the wage offer the government will provide as part of the collective bargaining negotiations. As the decision stage for the new contract covering the 2025-2026 period has been reached, it was announced that the offer will be revealed tomorrow.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated in his remarks in recent weeks that the wage offer would be presented after the Eid al-Adha holiday. The expected day has arrived. With the meeting to be held tomorrow, the figure the government will put on the table will become clear.
The negotiations are being conducted under the leadership of TÜRK-İŞ and HAK-İŞ on the labor side, and the Public Employers' Union of Heavy Industry and Service Sector (TÜHİS) on the employer side. Initial contacts were held in February and April. With the end of the holiday, the final stage of the process has begun.
The contract covers a wide range of public workers, including those working under 4-D status. With the new contract, salaries and social rights will be reshaped. For this reason, both employees and unions are focused on the government's offer.
WORKERS' DEMANDS
At the forefront of the demands submitted by the unions is raising the lowest daily gross wage to 1,800 TL. Additionally, a 50 percent raise for the first six months of 2025, 25 percent for the following six months, and a 10 percent welfare share for each period are being requested. These rates aim for a standard of living above inflation.
