7 people hospitalized in apartment building after pest control: 5 are children
In Çorum, 7 people, including 5 children, living in the same apartment building were taken to the hospital with suspected poisoning after pest control was performed in a home infested with bedbugs.

The incident occurred on Varinli Street in the Ulukavak neighborhood. According to the information obtained,an apartment on thesecond floor of the building on the street wastreated by a company during the daydue to a bedbug infestation.
Afterthe treatment,the company officials advised that the home should not be entered for approximately 24 hours,so the family living in the homewent to their house in thevillage. In the evening,7 people, 5 of whom werechildren, living in the apartmentsabove the treated unit began to showsymptoms of poisoning.Followinga report
made to the 112 Emergency CallCenter, health, police, AFAD, and crime scene investigation teams were dispatched to the apartment building.The citizens, who were believed to have been affected by the chemicals, were taken to the Hitit
University Erol Olçok Training and Research Hospital after receiving initialintervention.The citizens were placed under observation at the hospital. Meanwhile, AFAD teams and crime scene investigation teams evacuated the building to prevent any further negative outcomes.Measurements were taken by AFAD teams in the treated home and other apartments in the building.
Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.Stating that his own family was also affected by the incident, building resident Abdulkadir Kılıç said, "Bedbugs were appearing in one of the apartments. They had it treated.The company said the house should remain closed for 2 days. Then they went to the village. Of course, we were not aware of this situation; we are the building managers here. Families and children living in some of the apartments were affected by this situation and were taken to the hospital. They evacuated the entire building. We are now going to the hospital as companions. That is all I have to say; I do not know the condition of the other residents who were taken to the hospital. My mother and father are also in the hospital."
