Acting upon consumer complaints, the Ministry of Trade has made it mandatory to provide weight information for products such as doner, iskender, and hamburgers sold in restaurants and eateries.
This regulation aims to prevent grievances among consumers who are unable to make price comparisons.
In a letter sent to tradesmen associations, the Ministry emphasized that price transparency must be ensured for products offered in different styles and sizes, such as "doner sandwiches, doner in bread, doner wraps, and plated doner."
Furthermore, it stated that offering foods like iskender and hamburgers in varying portion sizes leads to consumers being inadequately informed.
FINES ARE COMING
If weight information is not included in tariffs and price lists, administrative fines will be imposed on businesses during inspections.
Ministry of Trade officials highlighted the importance of this information so that consumers can compare prices for these fast-food and economically preferred products.
Under the new regulation, price lists in restaurants and buffets are expected to become more transparent. It was announced that regular inspections will continue in order to protect consumer rights.
