Ahmet Hakan praises Bahçeli's 'solution' stance: 'Miles ahead of DEM...'

Hürriyet Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Hakan penned an article praising the call regarding Öcalan made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli last Tuesday (22.10.2024). 

Hakan noted the following in his article:

"All the leading figures of the DEM Party gathered for two days to discuss Devlet Bahçeli's recent moves.

Then they published a long, very long declaration.

I read the declaration.

While reading, I thought to myself:

Am I reading the declaration of a party aspiring to engage in democratic politics in Turkey? Or am I listening to a speech by one of the ringleaders of the PKK?

What is in the declaration?

- There is an accusation that Turkey is pursuing expansionist and colonialist policies.

- They present every demand of the PKK as if it were the 'demand of the Kurds'.

- There is a salute to the activities the PKK is engaged in in Syria.

- There is an accusation that Turkey is implementing policies of occupation and annexation in Syria.

So, what is missing?

This is missing:

There is not even the slightest mention of the organization laying down its arms.

'DEM IS TRYING TO PROTECT THE PKK'S STATUS QUO'

DEM does not, and cannot, say the following:

- Problems cannot be solved with weapons, bombs, terrorism, joining armed groups, or violence.

- Let weapons be laid down, let bombs be abandoned, let the mountains be vacated, let violence be ended.

Not only can they not say these things, but with an exceptionally aggressive tone...

By saying things like 'Heaven forbid anything happens to our gains,' they are trying to protect the PKK's status quo.

'BAHÇELİ IS AHEAD OF DEM'

We look at Devlet Bahçeli:

He speaks of civil politics, he says Öcalan should disband the organization, he speaks of brotherhood, he says Turks and Kurds are inseparable.

We look at DEM:

They say whatever the PKK says.

In terms of civil politics, opposing violence, solutions, and peace...

Devlet Bahçeli is miles ahead of DEM."

YAVUZ AĞIRALİOĞLU'S ANAHTAR PARTY

Hakan also leveled criticisms at the Anahtar Party, which Yavuz Ağıralioğlu is set to announce today.

Hakan noted the following: 

- All the gaps have been filled by parties in such a way that... I don't know which gap it will fill.

- There is an inflation of nationalist parties in Turkey... I don't know how it will stand out from this.

- Centrist nationalism has also been attempted quite a lot. I don't know what kind of difference it will make.

- A social base and a strong team... I don't know if it possesses these two functions.
