"I SAW HIM FOR THE LAST TIME"

Mother Minguzzi described what they went through at the hospital after receiving the news that her son had been stabbed:

"The surgery lasted 4 hours; it actually didn't go badly. He had been stabbed three times from behind and three times in the heart, which were fatal. The doctors said, 'The surgery went well, but we don't know how long he was without oxygen during that time. We don't know if he will wake up, or if he does, he might be paralyzed.' Yes, we had hope until the end; I prayed and begged until the end, constantly saying 'O Shafi, O Healer.' But at 5 a.m., they woke us up, and we went to the intensive care unit door. They said, 'Our condolences, his mother, he has passed away.' I saw him for the last time. Blood was dripping from the birthmark on his eye; I will never forget it. He used to call me 'my flower,' 'my flower,' he always said that to me..."

Stating that she will continue her legal battle to the end to ensure those who killed her son receive the harshest punishment, mother Minguzzi said, "Ahmet said, 'Excuse me, brother,' and he replied, 'How dare you call me brother, I'll gut you.' While Ahmet was dying on the ground, the other child kicked him in the head. I will not let this go. I will not! It is past the point of Ahmet. I lost one Ahmet, but I have thousands of Ahmets now; I will not let it go, I will not let any of them go, let them get the punishment they deserve," she said.

Father Andrea Minguzzi also expressed his pain with these words: "Ahmet became an angel. I tell all fathers, sometimes we get bored and give our children phones, but let's not forget to open our hearts. Enjoy your children. Because that is the most beautiful thing in this world. Spend more time with your children."
