The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Affairs (AKOM) has issued a warning regarding rainfall expected to be effective in Istanbul and the Marmara Region tonight.
It is reported that strong downpours and wind are expected to intensify around 10:00 PM, with temperatures set to drop by 8-10 degrees suddenly due to a new air current.
AKOM has issued a warning regarding heavy rainfall and strong winds expected to intensify around 22:00 today across the Marmara Region, particularly in Istanbul.
It was noted that temperatures, which hover around 27-29 degrees during the day, are expected to drop suddenly by 8-10 degrees as winds strengthen from the north (northwesterly), and that locally heavy downpours are expected across Istanbul until the morning hours.
The precipitation, which is expected to continue intermittently in the region until Tuesday evening, may be heavy in northern and eastern districts such as Şile, Beykoz, Çekmeköy, and Tuzla, while temperatures are forecast to rise above seasonal norms again starting Wednesday.
AKOM has warned citizens to be prepared and take precautions against potential negative consequences due to the expected heavy rainfall.
The General Directorate of Meteorology and the Istanbul Governor's Office had also issued warnings regarding the expected rainfall in Istanbul.
