"Anatolia's Plant Heritage" opens to visitors at Salt Beyoğlu!
Anatolia's thousands of years of plant diversity is preparing to come to life at Salt Beyoğlu through the botanical illustrations of 47 artists. The "Anatolia's Plant Heritage" exhibition aims to draw attention to the richness of nature and the preservation of this legacy.

The "Anatolia's Plant Heritage" exhibition, which aims to make Anatolia's rich plant diversity visible, has opened to visitors in the Kitchen space at Salt Beyoğlu. Hosted by Salt, which was founded by Garanti BBVA, the exhibition brings together 80 works by 47 botanical artists from Turkey.
TRANSFERRED TO CANVAS BY ARTISTS
The exhibition features plant species used for food, healing, and various other purposes, as well as field crops such as grains, vegetables, and fruits that have been in interaction with humans in the Anatolian geography for thousands of years.
These species, which artists have transferred to their drawings through detailed observations, shed light on the region's unique colors, textures, tastes, and scents.
Emphasizing the role of botanical illustrations in the production of scientific knowledge, the exhibition is supported by herbarium specimens, historical documents, and rare works.
The selection serves as a call to protect the genetic and cultural heritage carried by local plant species against agricultural diversity threatened by the climate crisis and industrialized production models.
SPEAKERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WILL ATTEND
The events to be held within the scope of the exhibition will begin on Sunday, May 18, at 13:30. In the program, Curtis’s Botanical Magazine editor Martyn Rix and botanical artists Christabel Frances King, Gülnur Ekşi Bona, Hülya Korkmaz Çalı, and Işık Güner will meet the audience with presentations and talks.
The speakers will share Anatolia's contribution to European botanical art, the place of illustration in the production of knowledge regarding Turkey's flora, and their own artistic journeys.

The Anatolia's Plant Heritage exhibition can be visited in the Kitchen space at Salt Beyoğlu until August 10, 2025.
The exhibition is taking place as part of the Botanical Art Worldwide 2025 program, organized by the American Society of Botanical Artists with the participation of 30 countries. The event was realized by the Botanical Artists Committee (BİRET) affiliated with the Flora Research Association.
