The megacity of Istanbul has been under the influence of a cold air wave coming from Siberia for days. Temperatures in the city have dropped, and higher elevations have turned white.
Following the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) and AKOM, another warning for residents of the city came from the Istanbul Governor's Office.
In the statement made by the Governor's Office, a time was given to citizens for the snowfall.
It was stated that the precipitation, which will begin on Tuesday (February 11) evening, will be effective until Wednesday noon.
The statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office included the following:
"According to the assessments of the General Directorate of Meteorology;
Our province has entered the influence of cold and rainy weather as of today. The precipitation, which is currently continuing as intermittent rain due to the cold weather, is expected to turn into sleet after the evening hours, and into snow in the western (surroundings of Çatalca and Silivri), northern (surroundings of Arnavutköy, Eyüp, Başakşehir, Sancaktepe, Beykoz, Sarıyer, Çekmeköy, and Şile) and higher parts of our province.
It is estimated that the precipitation, which will continue as sleet throughout the province and as snow in higher elevations on Tuesday, 11.02.2025, will be predominantly in the form of snow throughout the province from the early evening hours of Tuesday until noon on Wednesday (12.02.2024). Caution and precautions should be taken."
