Asteroid approaching Earth turns out to be Elon Musk's Tesla!

Astronomers from Harvard University announced that they had detected an asteroid approaching Earth; however, it was later understood that this object was Elon Musk's vehicle in space.

SCIENTISTS MISTOOK IT FOR AN ASTEROID

Scientists working at the Minor Planet Center at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics detected an object on January 2, 2025, at a distance of approximately 150,000 miles (240,000 km) from Earth, closer than the Moon's orbit. This object was initially recorded as a new asteroid under the name "2018 CN41".

HOW WAS IT UNDERSTOOD THAT THE OBJECT WAS THE TESLA ROADSTER?

Following the initial detection, when the object's orbit and characteristics were examined, it was realized that this was not a new asteroid, but the Tesla Roadster sent into space in 2018. This discovery was made after an observation process of approximately 17 hours, and the records were updated.

Although there is no definitive information about the current state of the vehicle, it is thought that it may have been severely damaged or completely disintegrated due to being exposed to radiation and micrometeoroids in space for years.
