Scientists working at the Minor Planet Center at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics detected an object on January 2, 2025, at a distance of approximately 150,000 miles (240,000 km) from Earth, closer than the Moon's orbit. This object was initially recorded as a new asteroid under the name "2018 CN41".
