The time allotted to pay the first installment of the 2026 MTV is rapidly running out. Vehicle users are researching how much tax their specific vehicle will be subject to and how to carry out the payment process. Those who do not make the payment after the specified deadline will face late payment interest.
According to the information provided by the Revenue Administration, the deadline for the first installment of the 2026 Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) has been announced as February 2, 2026. After this date, late payment interest will be applied for each day of delay.
MTV payments can be made through tax offices, as well as contracted banks, mobile applications, and e-Devlet. Experts state that it is beneficial not to leave the transactions until the last day to avoid paying excess interest and facing sanctions.
While the revaluation rate to be applied in 2026 was determined as 25.49 percent, the MTV increase was set at 18.95 percent as a result of the decision published in the Official Gazette. This rate is reflected in the final MTV amounts based on criteria such as the vehicle's engine displacement, production year, and vehicle value.
MTV AMOUNTS FOR AUTOMOBILE OWNERS
The MTV for automobiles registered after January 1, 2018, varies according to the engine displacement, the market value of the vehicle, and its age. Depending on the vehicle value and age range, the annual MTV for automobiles with an engine displacement of 1300 cc and below starts at 5,750 TL, while for newer and higher-value vehicles, this amount goes up to 6,902 TL. Similarly, the annual MTV amount increases for vehicles with larger engines and higher values.
For example, in the 1301-1600 cc segment, MTV amounts start at 10,016 TL and can reach up to 12,028 TL. Half of the annual amount is paid in the first installment of these totals.
For vehicles registered before 2018, the amounts follow similar ranges. As the vehicle age increases, the MTV amount decreases; for example, an annual tax of 593 TL is required for automobiles 16 years and older with an engine displacement of 1300 cc and below, and 1,181 TL for the same age group between 1301-1600 cc.
For 2026, minibuses, panel vans, and campers have also been subjected to various tax brackets based on engine displacement and vehicle age. For minibuses, the MTV was announced as 6,875 TL for the first 6 years and 2,214 TL for those 16 years and older.
For panel vans and motorhomes, there is different pricing based on engine displacement. For panel vans and campers with an engine displacement of 1900 cc and below, the tax is 9,167 TL for the first 6 years, while for models over 1900 cc, this amount goes up to 13,876 TL. As the age of the vehicle increases, the amount of MTV paid decreases.
For MTV payments not made by February 2, a daily late payment interest will be activated, which will mean an additional financial burden for vehicle owners.
Everyone who owns a vehicle in 2026 must calculate the MTV amount they will pay according to this table and complete their payments on time. In addition to mobile banking and e-Devlet, payment options via traditional methods also continue.
