Crisis center established in Muğla due to earthquakes in the Aegean

More than 700 earthquakes have been recorded in the Aegean Sea since January 28. The continuous seismic activity has put both Greece and Turkey's Aegean coast on high alert. A crisis center has been established in Muğla, one of the districts at the highest risk in the event of a potential disaster, as a precautionary measure.
As part of the measures taken by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, 617 emergency assembly areas have been designated across 13 districts in the city. Work has been accelerated to replace missing signs and maintain existing ones in areas evaluated for physical suitability.
It was reported that 37 temporary shelter areas have been created as part of the measures taken by the municipality. Four containers stocked with basic living supplies such as tents, blankets, pillows, sheets, boots, and clothing have been prepared at the camp sites.
Ahmet Aras, President of the Aegean Coastal Municipalities Union and Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, made a statement regarding the measures taken.
Aras stated the following:
"The tremors occurring in the Aegean Sea have once again brought the reality of earthquakes in the region to the forefront. Acting with the awareness that Muğla is located in an earthquake zone, we are continuing our work in coordination with our district municipalities and AFAD."
