Within the framework of these innovations, all newly registered license plates will now be produced with a QR code. These QR codes will provide quick and easy access to critical information such as the vehicle's serial number, place of manufacture, and production date. Additionally, the plates will include a 12-digit serial number.
This regulation aims to ensure faster and more effective tracking of vehicle registrations and to prevent the use of counterfeit license plates. By increasing the readability and security of the information on the plates, the goal is to make attempts to change license plates for criminal purposes more difficult.
With the new regulation, penalty amounts have been increased for situations such as modifications that prevent license plates from being read or the use of fake license plates.
While a fine of 2,647 TL is applied for interventions that impair the readability of a license plate, the fine for using a fake license plate can reach up to 32,170 TL. This practice stands out as a measure introduced to ensure the security and accuracy of vehicle license plates.
The most notable feature of this regulation stands out as the goal of increasing security. Experts and citizens emphasize that the new practice will provide significant benefits for appraisal firms and car dealerships, and that vehicle records will also become more reliable and transparent.
