The Emir Bayındır Campus Devlet Bey Mansion, which MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had built in Ahlat, Bitlis, in the style of Akkoyunlu architecture, has been completed. The construction of the Emir Bayındır Campus Devlet Bey Mansion, which MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli spearheaded in the Ahlat district of Bitlis, has been completed. The structure, which bears traces of Seljuk and Akkoyunlu architecture, was built in memory of Emir Bayındır bin Rüstem, from whom Bahçeli descends.
The project, which began in April 2023 at Bahçeli's instruction, was completed in 18 months. The architectural design of the mansion was undertaken by MHP Central Executive Committee member Hayri Bulut. Ahlat stone, which is unique to the region, was used in the construction of the building. Shaped with the traditional rough-hewn stone masonry technique, the building was constructed entirely by hand.
The design of the mansion was modeled after the tomb where Emir Bayındır bin Rüstem, one of the Akkoyunlu beys, was buried in 1481. The fact that Bahçeli is a descendant of Emir Bayındır further increased the symbolic importance of the mansion.
ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS OF THE DEVLET BEY MANSION
The two-story structure features a large reception hall on the ground floor and a traditional head room with a sofa on the upper floor. While wolf figures, which are important symbols of Turkish culture, and the Seljuk eagle are located at the entrance of the mansion, guest rooms designed in the form of a crescent are located on the north facade.
MODEL GIFTED TO BAHÇELİ
A detailed model of the mansion was gifted to Devlet Bahçeli by the building's architect, Hayri Bulut. This special model is currently on display at the MHP Headquarters.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also has a Presidential Complex in Ahlat, which is known to the public as the "Winter Palace." Erdoğan occasionally holds Cabinet meetings there. With the completion of the Devlet Bey Mansion, Bahçeli has also become a physical neighbor to this complex.
