DNA crisis in Narin murder case: DNA samples contradict each other

In the murder trial of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who was killed in Diyarbakır, the prosecution announced its final opinion, stating that only Narin's DNA profile was found in Salim Güran's vehicle.

The prosecution's final opinion and the results of the DNA sample analysis conducted on the vehicle by the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory contradict each other.

DNA OF 3 MORE PEOPLE FOUND IN THE CAR

Uncle Salim Güran, one of the suspects in the Narin murder, was arrested on September 2 after Narin's DNA sample was found in his vehicle. According to a report by Halk TV, the prosecution stated in the final opinion submitted to the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court that only Narin's DNA profile was found in Salim Güran's vehicle.

The prosecution's final opinion included the following statements:

"Studies were conducted on all DNA profiles likely to be found inside the vehicle, and the examination was not limited to the identified DNA profile of Narin GÜRAN; the only DNA profile obtained from the vehicle belongs to Narin GÜRAN, and not even a DNA profile belonging to the suspect's own family could be found..."

However, a report dated September 6 by the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory—which predates both the prosecutor's final opinion and the preparation of the indictment—revealed that it was not only Narin's DNA profile that was present in Salim Güran's vehicle.

The Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory identified DNA samples belonging to Salim Güran himself, as well as his son Devran Güran, his brother Kurtuluş Güran, and his sister's son Muhammet Kaya in the vehicle.

SHOCKING DOCUMENT EMERGES IN NARIN CASE

According to the report, DNA belonging to Narin's 23-year-old cousin Muhammet Kaya was found on the cover of the driver's seat back, and DNA belonging to Narin's uncle Kurtuluş Güran was found on the cover of the front passenger seat back and the seat cushion. The report also stated that DNA belonging to Salim Güran's son, Devran Güran, was found on the cover of the driver's seat back.

The section of the prosecution's final opinion regarding the detection of Narin's DNA profile in Salim Güran's vehicle is as follows:

“It is clear that the determination that the DNA profiles obtained from the swab on the driver's seat and the hair sample from the inner part of the right rear door belong to Narin GÜRAN cannot be explained by the defense that the vehicle's doors were open or that all the children might have gotten into the car, because while the examination regarding the DNA profile was being conducted, studies were carried out on all DNA profiles likely to be found inside the vehicle, and the examination was not limited to the identified DNA profile of Narin GÜRAN; the only DNA profile obtained from the vehicle belongs to Narin GÜRAN, and not even a DNA profile belonging to the suspect's own family could be found, as no DNA was found in the examination conducted inside the vehicle belonging to Narin GÜRAN's father, Arif GÜRAN; the fact that Narin GÜRAN's DNA profile, for whom no DNA evidence was found even in her own father's vehicle, appeared in two parts of the suspect's vehicle is clearly contrary to the ordinary flow of life, and technically, a DNA profile can be found in biological samples such as blood, semen, tissue, organs, hair, urine, saliva, and bodily fluids; the statement by the individual named Nevzat BAHTİYAR that fluid was coming from Narin GÜRAN's mouth while she was lying on the ground strongly suggests that the DNA profile could have been obtained from a biological sample and that it was present in the vehicle as a result of being transferred to the suspect Salim GÜRAN; for these reasons, the suspect was involved in the act of killing and attempted to destroy evidence, and therefore, he was in a state of complicity with the other suspects regarding the killing of Narin.”
