Drunk driver shoots himself with a gun inside the police car he was placed in
In Karaman, a drunk driver who caused an accident was seriously injured after shooting himself with a handgun inside the police vehicle he had been placed in to be taken to the police station.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 PM. According to the information obtained, the car with license plate 42 FN 255, driven by M.K. (27), crashed after driving onto the median on Atatürk Boulevard in the Mansurdede neighborhood. Traffic police were dispatched to the scene upon notification.
Because the individual was intoxicated, M.K. was placed in a police patrol car by officers to undergo legal processing. While in the detention section of the vehicle, he shot himself in the head once with a handgun he had hidden in his waistband.
M.K. received initial medical intervention at the scene from 112 Emergency Health teams and was subsequently transported to Karaman Training and Research Hospital.
It was learned that M.K., who was taken into intensive care, is in critical condition, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE REGARDING THE INCIDENT
In a written statement regarding the incident, the Karaman Governor's Office noted the following: "Our police teams, who arrived at the scene following a report of a single-vehicle traffic accident with property damage on Atatürk Boulevard in the Mansurdede neighborhood, identified a vehicle that had driven onto the median.
The driver, M.K., was determined to have a blood alcohol level of 1.39 promille. He was placed in the police vehicle to be processed for the crime of 'Endangering Traffic Safety,' and a pat-down search was conducted.
However, as the detention section of the patrol vehicle was being closed, a gunshot was heard from inside, and it was observed that the individual had attempted suicide by firing one shot to his head with an unlicensed handgun he had concealed on his person.
An ambulance was immediately called to the scene, and after initial intervention by medical teams, M.K. was transported to Karaman Training and Research Hospital for treatment. A judicial and administrative investigation is being meticulously conducted to clarify all aspects of the matter."
