Dubai Metro Tender Goes to Turks: Consortium of Turkish-Chinese Cooperation Wins the Project!

Dubai continues its projects to develop its urban infrastructure and superstructure as part of its 2040 vision. The tender for the 30-kilometer driverless metro line, named 'Dubai Metro Blue Line Design and Construction', which will be integrated with the airport, has been concluded. The tender for this project, which is being carried out by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to develop and expand the city's existing transport network, was won by a triple consortium including Turkish companies Mapa and Limak and the Chinese company CRRC. The consortium submitted a bid of approximately 5.6 billion dollars for the project.

1.5 KM WILL PASS OVER THE SEA

The Dubai Metro Blue Line, which will connect the existing red and green lines of the world-famous United Arab Emirates city of Dubai, aims to expand the city's metro system and make the transport network more integrated. The Blue Line Project, which has a total length of 30 kilometers, will consist of 14 stations in total, seven of which will be elevated. Approximately half of this distance will be underground, and a 1.5-kilometer section will pass over the sea.

WILL BE INTEGRATED WITH THE AIRPORT

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, said in a press conference on the subject that the new line, which will reduce the travel time in the region to 20 minutes, will also be integrated with Dubai International Airport.

CONSTRUCTION BY TURKISH COMPANIES

Al Tayer continued his remarks by saying, "The Blue Line project was selected through a global tender in which 5 alliances, including 15 international companies specializing in the implementation of infrastructure and metro systems from various countries around the world, participated. Following the tender evaluation process, the project contract was awarded to the Turkish consortium led by Mapa and Limak. They will undertake the construction works, while CRRC will carry out the system works."

WILL CARRY 46 THOUSAND PASSENGERS PER HOUR

The Blue Line, which has the capacity to carry 46 thousand passengers per hour in both directions, is expected to be completed by September 2029. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion by 20 percent in an area expected to have a population of approximately one million by 2040.

SYMBOLIC COMPLETION DATE

The completion date of the project has been set as September 9, 2029, to coincide with the anniversary of September 9, 2009, the date when the Green and Red Line Metro projects, which are of vital importance for the city, began.
