Landscape architect Ece Gürel, who could not be reached after going to the Belgrade Forest and was found alive 4 days later as a result of search efforts, could not be saved despite medical interventions.
It was announced that the cause of Gürel's death was hypothermia following investigations, but the mystery surrounding her death has not yet been fully unraveled.
Within the scope of the investigation launched into the incident, Gürel's mother, father, and husband arrived today at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
The family members, who met with the prosecutor in charge of the investigation, provided statements here in the capacity of "persons with knowledge."
Gürel's family later left the courthouse.
WHAT HAPPENED?
36-year-old landscape architect Ece Gürel went missing after leaving her home in Kağıthane's Gültepe neighborhood on Sunday, March 2, saying she was going to the Belgrade Forest for a walk; a large-scale search operation was launched in the forest with the participation of numerous search and rescue teams upon the notification of her relatives.
Gürel's mobile phone and some personal belongings were found on March 4 during the search operations conducted in the Belgrade Forest.
Gürel, who was found in a rugged forested area at 01:15 on March 6 as a result of the teams' 4-day search, was taken under treatment in the intensive care unit of Acıbadem Maslak Hospital, but lost her life despite all interventions.
