Elderly man stabbed after being asked 'Why don't you return greetings'

The incident occurred around 16:00 in the Konyaaltı Beach Park area of the Bahçelievler neighborhood in the Muratpaşa district. According to the information obtained, an argument broke out between Ali Erhan O. (70), who was sitting in a green area on the Konyaaltı Beach, and two children passing by.

The two children, who stabbed Ali Erhan O. in the leg after asking "Why don't you return my greeting?", fled the scene quickly, while private security guards and citizens rushed to help the elderly man. Upon the report made to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.

Ali Erhan O., who received initial intervention from the medical teams arriving at the scene, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The two suspects were apprehended a few hundred meters from the scene by motorized Yunus police units and private security guards.

During the body search of the suspects, identified as A.K. (17) and E.B. (16), who were caught in a short time, the weapon used in the crime was not found. Police and private security guards searched for the weapon for a long time at the spot indicated by the suspects, who said they had thrown the knife into a wooded area. The two children were then taken to the police station for questioning.

Ali Erhan O. recounted the incident to police teams, saying, "They said 'Greetings, uncle' as they passed by. I returned the greeting, but they didn't hear it. One of them said 'Why don't you return my greeting?' and cursed. I turned around and said, 'Who said that?' They didn't say anything; both of them stayed silent. I said, 'Then it was you.' Then one of them came and stabbed me in the leg."
