Elderly woman found thanks to the dog she fed

Hayriye Şen, who lives in the Karabağlar neighborhood of İncirliova, was last seen leaving her home at 02:30 last night. Her relatives realized the elderly woman was missing this evening. Her family, who learned that she suffers from Alzheimer's, notified the gendarmerie after they could not reach her.

Upon the report, gendarmerie commandos and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) teams were dispatched to the Karabağ neighborhood. Accompanied by neighborhood headman Özgür Yılmaz, the teams began search operations in and around the village. Local residents also supported the efforts following an announcement made from the mosque.

The elderly woman was found in the garden of an unused house about 50 meters from her home. Şen had slipped and fallen, and was unable to move from where she landed. A neighbor's dog named 'Aslan', which she regularly fed bread and dog food, stood by the elderly woman and barked continuously.

The search teams found the elderly woman when they checked the area after hearing the barking. JAK teams provided the first intervention and gave the elderly woman water. Her relatives and neighborhood residents breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that the elderly woman was in good condition.
