Free tea when Cimbom wins: Criticizing Galatasaray and wearing a Fenerbahçe jersey are 'banned' in this coffeehouse

Veli Turan, who lives in Manisa, has taken the love for Galatasaray he inherited from his father to a new level at the "Galatasaray Fans' Coffeehouse," which his father opened 34 years ago and decorated with yellow-red colors and posters of the players.

The coffeehouse, which began serving in 1990 in the rural Osmancalı neighborhood of the Yuntdağ region, draws attention with its yellow and red colors, from the ceiling to the floor, from the walls to the windows, and from the chairs and tables to the tea glasses and cups.

The walls of the establishment are decorated with numerous photographs and posters of football players, as well as newspaper clippings about the club. The old newspaper reports feature the team's successes from the recent past.

"WHEN GALATASARAY WINS, THE TEA IS ON THE HOUSE"

Veli Turan said he is keeping the passion passed down by his father alive.

Stating that he had the posters, pictures, and newspaper clippings that his father, Sadrettin Turan, collected over 34 years from magazines, newspapers, and second-hand booksellers framed to decorate the walls of the coffeehouse, Veli Turan spoke as follows:

"Players who have played for Galatasaray, team rosters... The history of Galatasaray is here; this place has become like a museum. Fenerbahçe fans are surprised and offer their congratulations when they see it. My father started out of curiosity, it came from within him, he began with a few photos. Then it turned into this. It was left to us by our father, and we are trying to continue it."

Turan explained that the coffeehouse is packed on match days, that 98 percent of the neighborhood residents are Galatasaray fans, and that no other matches are watched at the coffeehouse.

Stating that they practically lose their will to live when Galatasaray is defeated, Turan said, "We walk around with long faces for a week, and we don't feel like doing anything. When Galatasaray wins, the tea is on the house. We invite everyone to come here and have some tea."

THE COFFEEHOUSE HAS RULES

Turan stated that they had business cards printed for the coffeehouse, on which they wrote the "establishment's rules," listing them as follows: "It is forbidden to criticize Galatasaray, it is forbidden to enter wearing a Fenerbahçe jersey. It is forbidden to speak words of praise for Fenerbahçe. It is forbidden to watch Fenerbahçe matches, news, or TV series."

Osman Delen, a regular at the coffeehouse, also explained that he feels like he is in a stadium when he comes to the establishment.

İsmail Hakkı Sevben also stated that they have an extraordinary coffeehouse, saying, "Our coffee is good, our tea is good, our Galatasaray is good. After the matches, when Galatasaray wins, the tea is on the house. We all support Galatasaray."
