GAEL KAKUTA'S CAREER
French-born Congolese footballer Gael Kakuta plays in the attacking midfield and winger positions. Born in 1991, the footballer began his career in the Lens youth academy.
Attracting attention by transferring to Chelsea in 2007, Kakuta was unable to make the expected breakthrough there and was loaned out to many different clubs.
He played for teams such as Fulham, Bolton, Dijon, Vitesse, Lazio, and Rayo Vallecano. Later, he played for clubs such as Sevilla, Deportivo La Coruña, Amiens, and Lens.
Although Kakuta played for the French National Team in youth categories, he chose the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the senior international level. Known for his technical skills and speed, the player has occasionally been criticized for his inconsistent performances.
Most recently playing in the Iranian Super League, Kakuta appeared in 17 matches this season.
