Frightening warning from Naci Görür for the Marmara earthquake! He revealed the risky areas

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür pointed out that a major earthquake could occur in the Marmara region at any moment. Stating that the Adalar, Kumburgaz, and Tekirdağ fault lines located on the northern branch of the North Anatolian Fault carry risk, Görür said that the total length of these faults is 160 kilometers. Drawing attention to the possibility that the Tekirdağ segment may have already ruptured, the expert noted that this is not yet definitive information.

47 PERCENT PROBABILITY OF EARTHQUAKE

Prof. Dr. Görür emphasized that considering the time elapsed since the 1999 earthquake, there is a 47% probability of a major earthquake occurring in the Marmara region within 30 years.

This rate indicates that the earthquake danger is quite high. Experts state that the risk should not be underestimated and that structural safety and disaster preparations must be completed rapidly.

NORTH ANATOLIAN FAULT WARNING

The North Anatolian Fault (NAF) stretches from Bingöl Karlıova to Greece. Prof. Dr. Görür stated that this fault has the characteristic of carrying earthquakes from east to west and that in the historical process, every major earthquake has triggered the next western segment.

This means a migration of earthquakes, and the most recent major earthquakes are knocking on the door of the Marmara region.

WHICH ARE THE EARTHQUAKE-RISK REGIONS?

While listing the most risky points of the North Anatolian Fault, Görür expressed that in addition to the Marmara region, the Bingöl Karlıova line should also be followed carefully.

“The meaning of that statement is this; a major earthquake with a minimum magnitude of 7.2 and a maximum of 7.6 is expected in the Marmara region. It will trigger all fault systems in the Marmara region. The one where we expect an earthquake is already the northern branch of the North Anatolian Fault. That is, the Adalar and Kumburgaz fault branches, and there is also a fault branch further to the West. Therefore, the total length is 160 kilometers. There is a possibility that the Tekirdağ part has ruptured; but it is a subject that is debated even among ourselves. Therefore, this fault system will be activated. The 250-year period has been completed. Since '99, there is a 47 percent probability of an earthquake occurring within 30 years, with it being possible at any moment. That is, it is a very high probability. Therefore, we are expecting this earthquake in the Marmara region.

The line where the earthquakes occur is entirely the North Anatolian Fault... It starts from Bingöl Karlıova and goes all the way to Greece. What is this fault? This fault is a plate boundary. Earthquakes occur at plate boundaries and some occur within the plate. The NAF has a behavior. It carries earthquakes from East to West. Wherever an earthquake has occurred, the next one has occurred to its west. This means the migration of earthquakes. Therefore, the latest earthquakes are knocking on the door of the Marmara region.
