Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has shared photographs from the Atatürk Library archive related to the war in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the March 18 Martyrs' Remembrance Day and the Gallipoli Naval Victory.
In a statement made by the IMM, it was noted that the photographs related to the Gallipoli Campaign in the Atatürk Library have been carefully preserved for years.
The collection sheds light on the lesser-known aspects of the war, revealing the hardships experienced on the front lines, the expressions of the heroes in the trenches, and the details of life behind the front.
The frames retrieved from the archives include the determination of the soldiers serving on the battlefields, scenes reflecting the logistical dimensions of the war, and the support provided by the public to the front.
Each photograph serves as a reminder once again that the Gallipoli Campaign was not only a military victory but also a unique struggle that demonstrated the spirit of unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation.
