The incident occurred on November 17 near the Muratdere Village section of the Bursa-Ankara highway.
According to the information obtained, teacher Yeliz Efe (30), who lost her father in 2023, fell victim to a horrific accident while traveling on the Bursa-Bilecik highway with her 3-year-old daughter in her arms while returning from a memorial service.
On November 17, 2024, a taxi driven by Kemal K., which was making a maneuver at a point where turns are prohibited near Muratdere Village, caused the vehicle carrying the mother and daughter to be involved in an accident. Due to the impact, Yeliz Efe and her young daughter, Ela Efe, lost their lives at the scene.
Following the accident, the taxi driver, who was found to be one hundred percent at fault and was arrested, remained in prison for only 5 months.
Despite giving contradictory statements in court, the taxi driver was released by benefiting from probation.
Raşit Efe, who was driving the vehicle in which his wife and child lost their lives, protested the decision with words that truly break the heart:
"He tore my wife and child away from life. I no longer have holidays or Father's Day.
Is the 5-month sentence given to this person a punishment or a reward? I want the sentences to be increased.
Serious accidents occur 2-3 times every year at the location where the accident happened. Our hearts are broken; let no one else's be. I want this driver, who is one hundred percent at fault, to be punished."
In the security camera footage that emerged of the tragic accident, it was seen that the taxi driver made a turn where it was prohibited and the vehicle collided with the taxi.
Citizens also called on authorities, stating that necessary precautions should be taken in the Muratdere Village area, where accidents occur frequently.
On the other hand, teacher Yeliz Efe and her young daughter, Ela, who lost their lives in the accident, were laid to rest in Eskişehir amidst tears.
