Frequent drinking water outages in a neighborhood in the Kocaali district of Sakarya prompted the local headman (muhtar) to take action. The headman discovered that a resident had punctured the drinking water line to irrigate his garden and had installed an illegal connection with a hose several meters long; legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the incident.

Taking action following the recent increase in water outages in Kirazlı Neighborhood, neighborhood headman Tuğrul Çatalbaş launched a detailed investigation along the route where the line passes.
As a result of his investigation, the headman detected an illegal connection on the old water line coming from the Kestepınarı Neighborhood direction.
It was revealed that an individual had punctured the drinking water line and was irrigating his garden with a hose several meters long that he had buried underground. The hose, which caused dozens of households to be left without water due to the outages in the neighborhood, was removed and collected.
The footage recorded at the scene left people saying, "This is too much." The footage captured how the hose was removed from under the ground.
Meanwhile, following the incident, officials from the Sakarya Water and Sewerage Administration (SASKİ) also went to the region and initiated legal proceedings regarding the matter. Reminding that unauthorized interference with drinking water networks is a serious legal offense, the officials stated that inspections against similar cases would be increased.
