Journalist and television programmer Candaş Tolga Işık announced in a statement on his social media account that this week on his program Az Önce Konuştum, he would host the family of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death.
However, he also revealed that he has received threats to prevent the program from airing.
"THEY ARE THREATENING ME NOT TO DO THE PROGRAM"
In his post, Işık stated, "They are threatening me not to do the program. It rolls off my back. This gang, which criminalizes children under 18 and then turns them into crime machines, is trying to remove anyone involved in the Minguzzi case."
PROTECTION GRANTED TO THE FAMILY
Stating that the Minguzzi family has been placed under protection in the face of the threats, Işık called on the authorities, saying, "The mother, father, and aunt have been granted protection. Why is the Public Security Bureau handling this file, which is clearly an organized crime group? They are committing crimes across all of Turkey from a city in Anatolia and hurling threats; could there be a more organized crime than this?"
“AN ORGANIZED STRUCTURE IS HURLING THREATS”
Continuing his post, Işık drew attention to the organized crime structure, stating, "They first make children under 18 commit minor crimes with money and drugs, turning them into gang members. Because of their age, the child receives a light sentence. Meanwhile, the gang grows through the crimes they make the children commit, showing off their power and making a fortune through threats and blackmail."
Stating that legal changes must be made urgently, Işık said, "If legal changes are not made urgently against these structures called 'New Generation Crime Organizations,' the situation will become even more terrifying. A person who stabs someone in the heart 5 times is not a child!"
WHAT HAPPENED?
Following an argument on January 24 in Kadıköy between Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who wanted to buy skateboard equipment, and B.B. and U.B., Minguzzi was stabbed and seriously injured; footage of him being kicked while on the ground was reflected in the public eye.
While the trial process for the two suspects arrested after the incident continues, Minguzzi lost his life on February 9.
