Heartbreaking detail in the death of an 11-year-old: Shot by her 8-year-old brother

In the incident that occurred last night in the Çeltikler neighborhood, 11-year-old Elanur E. was found shot in the head with a hunting rifle at home.

The unfortunate child, who received initial intervention from medical teams arriving at the scene upon notification, lost her life at Geyve State Hospital, where she had been taken.

A painful detail regarding the incident has emerged. It was learned that while their parents were not at home, Elanur E. had gathered to play with her brother R.E. (8) and three other children from the neighborhood, and during this time, an unlicensed hunting rifle that R.E. picked up went off.

While Elanur E. was critically injured after being struck in the head by pellets from the rifle, it was determined that her brother R.E. was injured as a result of the rifle's recoil. It was stated that R.E., who accidentally shot his sister while playing and was injured by the recoil, is currently receiving treatment at Sakarya Training and Research Hospital.

Within the scope of the investigation launched into the incident, it was learned that the mother and father, who were taken to the police station, were released after giving their statements.

On the other hand, 11-year-old Elanur E., who lost her life, was laid to rest following the funeral prayer held at Geyve Central Mosque after the afternoon prayer.
