Her farewell to Vural Çelik drew backlash: Caner Özyurtlu's comment about Gülse Birsel becomes a hot topic again!

Gülse Birsel faced backlash following her statements after the passing of Vural Çelik, a beloved actor from the series "Avrupa Yakası." A comment made by Caner Özyurtlu about Gülse Birsel a few weeks ago has now become a subject of discussion on social media. Referring to Birsel's book titled "Beni Gözünüzde Büyütmeyin" (Don't Put Me on a Pedestal), Özyurtlu stated, "I won't finish myself off. In short, I agree with the title of her latest book."

Vural Çelik, known for his role as "Kubilay" in the series "Avrupa Yakası," passed away on October 17 due to a heart attack he suffered at his home.

His co-star Gülse Birsel, who did not attend the funeral and was known to have a strained relationship with him, drew criticism for a post she shared on social media titled "My farewell to Vural."

"HIS MISTAKES, HIS WRONGS..."

In the post she shared on her social media account, Gülse Birsel wrote the following:

"My farewell to Vural... Funerals, if we set aside the religious ceremony part, exist to commemorate and bid farewell to the deceased. Vural Çelik had come to 'Avrupa Yakası' for the role of Kubilay for a few episodes. That week, I told the producer, 'I want to write him into every episode if possible,' and Vural joined the team. He was one of a kind. He would hold grudges against everyone for no reason, get offended by things we didn't know the cause of, and then ask for gifts to make up."

"When he said he wanted to leave as we were entering the final season, we tried to talk him out of it. He had complaints about his salary, hours, and his place in the script. I wish we had played together in the final season as well. And I wish he hadn't made inexplicable, inappropriate remarks about me on a TV show a few months later. But there is no need to recount his mistakes and wrongs from the following years here, and it wouldn't be appropriate either. May God have mercy on him. May he rest in peace."

SHE SHOULD GO TO HIS GRAVE AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS

Following these statements, which drew much criticism and led her to delete the post, Vural Çelik's sister, Kadriye Çelik, responded on behalf of the family to Gülse Birsel as follows:

"We are going through one of the most difficult periods of our lives. My dear brother Vural Çelik has left us, leaving behind a deep pain. His warm smile, his loving heart, and the beauty he added to our lives will always be remembered."

"Let us not forget that my brother left a mark on the hearts of many people throughout his life. We will never forget the values he taught us, the memories he shared, and the love he gave. We know that in these difficult days, supporting each other and keeping his memory alive is the most important thing."

"As the Çelik family, while our pain is still very fresh, we witnessed with sadness the remarks made by Gülse Birsel that exceeded the bounds of decency. We leave it to the public's discretion how appropriate it is to make such comments about my brother without giving us a chance to defend him."

"As can be understood from these statements, a person's pen may be talented; however, this does not mean they are a good person. My brother was a person who loved to make people happy and make them laugh, and he was happy with every smile he saw. This was his greatest wealth."

"My brother was someone who, throughout his life, took care of a visually impaired mother, a sister, and two nieces, struggled for his life, and never bowed to anyone while chasing his bread. He lived with honor and left us with honor."

"As the Çelik family, our advice to Gülse Birsel is to go to my brother's grave and ask for his forgiveness (hellallik). This might, at least, bring some peace to our hearts in these difficult days. My brother was big-hearted; we hope he would forgive..."

Following these events, the remarks made by actor Caner Özyurtlu about Gülse Birsel on Fatih Altaylı's program became a trending topic on social media again days later.

When asked by Altaylı, "Is it easy to both write and direct? I suppose you and Gülse Birsel are the ones doing this," Özyurtlu had responded with laughter as follows:

"Thank you, she is a writer I also like very much. I won't finish myself off. In short, I agree with the title of Gülse Birsel's latest book (Don't Put Me on a Pedestal)."

When his friend next to him tried to silence him, Özyurtlu had said, "I'm sorry, I'm shutting up. But why is it like this? If we aren't going to speak our minds, why are we doing this job?"
