Historical discovery on the shores of the Atatürk Dam Reservoir!
A 3,000-year-old settlement area has been identified as a result of archaeological work carried out on the shores of the Atatürk Dam Reservoir in the Kahta district of Adıyaman.

Teams from the Adıyaman Museum Directorate launched work to identify historic sites along the shore of the reservoir in the countryside of Belören village.
The teams that went to the area identified 10 settlement sites dating back 3 thousand years during a land survey and work carried out along the shores by boat.
Adıyaman Museum Director Mehmet Alkan told reporters that they had identified settlement sites in the area as a result of intensive work.
Stating that they began work at the sites after the waters receded along the shore of the Atatürk Dam Reservoir, Alkan said, "We identified 10 settlement sites here consisting of rock settlements. The pottery found shows us that people lived there in that period. At the same time, in the field survey, we see channel-shaped hollows and room-type settlement areas."
