Hollywood's romantic comedy musical "Singin' in the Rain" to meet art lovers!

The Turkish premiere will be held as part of the Samsun Culture Road Festival organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The production, which draws attention with its rain effect on stage, aims to offer the audience an unforgettable experience both technically and artistically.

"IT REALLY RAINS ON STAGE"

The work's translator and director Aclan Büyüktürkoğlu stated that the musical is adapted from the 1952 classic film, saying, "This work focuses on the transition process from silent cinema to sound cinema. The musical is not just entertaining; it carries deep emotions and sincere messages in its background," he said.

Emphasizing that the rain effect on stage is applied with real water, Büyüktürkoğlu said, "The actors really get wet. We installed a rain effect on stage with safety precautions.

In this sense, a first is happening in Turkey. We have created an impressive stage in terms of aesthetics and technique," he expressed.

A GIANT CAST OF 160 PEOPLE

Samsun State Opera and Ballet Manager and Artistic Director Barış Salcan expressed his excitement about the project with these words:

"This was a project we had been dreaming of for a long time. It was a difficult task, but we succeeded. For the first time in Turkey, such a musical will be staged at this scale and with this technique. We applied many different techniques, including making it rain on stage. A total of 160 people, including the orchestra, artists, and technical team, took part in this project."

WORLD-FAMOUS MUSICAL COMES TO LIFE IN SAMSUN

The music of the musical, composed by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed with lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, is arranged and conducted by Kıvanç Tepe, while the choir is conducted by Maria Chekriekchieva.

Choreography is by Yunus Emre Örgüt, costume design by Gülnur Çağlayan Tuluk, set design by Tayfun Çebi, lighting design by Oğuz Murat Yılmaz, and video projections are signed by Murat Turgut.

WHAT IS THE MUSICAL ABOUT?

Singin’ in the Rain tells the story of Hollywood's transition from silent cinema to sound film in the late 1920s.

The story follows silent film star Don Lockwood, who has a background in singing, dancing, and stunt work, as he faces the truth behind a publicity relationship conducted with a fake romance and finds true love with theater-origin Kathy Selden.

SECOND PERFORMANCE ON JUNE 22

Following the Turkish premiere, the musical will be staged again on Sunday, June 22, at 20:00.

The show, which is expected to attract great interest from art lovers, is a candidate to be one of the most ambitious productions of the season.
