The hotel burned down, what is Minister Ersoy thinking! It turns out he is marketing the burned hotel

A major fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya region of Bolu, one of Turkey's important ski resorts, resulted in the deaths of 76 people and left 51 others injured. It is stated that the fire started in the restaurant section of the hotel, which was hosting 238 guests. A major disaster occurred due to the rapid spread of the fire in the 12-story hotel, which had a wooden exterior.

This tragedy, occurring in the middle of the holiday season, drew attention not only for the scale of the incident but also for the fact that Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy's company, ETS Tur, continued to offer the hotel for sale even after the fire.

T24 columnist Umur Talu criticized the situation, making a harsh statement: "The hotel has burned down, children have died, but the Tourism Minister's company is still marketing the hotel." Criticizing the AK Party government by saying, "Very good, family hotel... 8.4 rating," Talu questioned the lack of reaction following the fire and said, "The 'family-loving' fathers and mothers of this government should take a look at the photos of the children and families burning to death, because this fire will not go out."

Perhaps it has happened to you too. Just as you are about to close your eyes, the flames and screams that destroyed so many families and children seem to be right beside you.

I once started an old article of mine like this: "We surely won't call a state that shoots children at 12 with 13 bullets, tortures them at 13 and throws them into a well, gases them at 14, makes them booed in squares at 15, pulls them out of school at 16... sacrifices them to an 'accident' at their workplace at 17... and beats them with sticks at 19, 'full of compassion and mercy... justice from top to bottom... a purely democratic state of law'!"

We had already added "newborns who die immediately" to this; now let's add "the children who were reduced to ashes and suffocated in the hotel that the state minister's company continued to market on its website even after the fire and so many deaths." In other words, this is also a "state problem."

Because the Minister's large tourism company, which rushed to the scene of the fire and immediately shifted the responsibility to others, scrambling to mislead on the fly, also marketed this hotel. Before the fire... but what kind of shamelessness is this; even while the flames engulfed the hotel, dozens of bodies of children were being pulled out, and so many families and the majority of the nation were devastated!

And a side note: When 5 children burned to death at once in İzmir, there was another minister who almost blamed the poor family, whose father was in prison and mother was collecting trash. But as we can see, flames sometimes destroy even with "money." Ultimately, this is a systemic problem. Everyone has a share of the pain.

And one of the intermediaries collecting that money is the large tourism company of the Minister responsible for tourism! It doesn't just collect money; it also convinces people about how solid, reliable, and wonderful the hotel is. It offers "early booking opportunities." A bank, hand-in-hand with them, provides "extra discounts on cards."

Look, it says so on the company's page; I'm not writing it, they wrote it themselves: "ETS recommends... 8.4 Very good" This is the burnt hotel! Very good:

"It offers an atmosphere where friendly service, quality, and comfort meet for ski and snowboard lovers, with its own 28 km long slopes and direct access from the hotel to the slopes." Look at the atmosphere! These exist, but there are no detectors or fire escapes. Or they are like ghosts!

Again, the Tourism Minister's tourism company also gives you a guarantee: "Ministry of Culture and Tourism Simple Accommodation Certificate 2022-7-1716." The Minister's company almost drowns you in security with the certificate given by the Minister's ministry. This is the state, it pays attention, right! Who else are you going to trust!

It didn't stop there. The Minister's company emphasized another important feature of the hotel: "Family Hotel." In the "Year of the Family," it was exactly that. The "families" who burned, some with one child, some with two, some with three, who paid for their vacation and were destroyed in flames and smoke in this world. Children and young people in elementary school, middle school, high school, and university. Mothers and fathers. I wonder how many of them made reservations through the Minister's company!

Perhaps it exists in other countries and states governed by whim. In this country, the justice and conservation part of the "justice-oriented conservative" government is not really there, but the "profit" part has swollen. That is why, with great negligence, a minister who owns tourism facilities and a large agency is responsible for tourism. Hospitals were also under the responsibility of ministers who owned hospitals. Some families who trusted one's hospital received the bodies of their babies from there. For a while, the economy was also entrusted to a joking textile boss! While his business was booming, the public kept getting poorer. It didn't stop, it kept getting poorer without stopping!

The "family-loving" fathers and mothers of this government should take a look at the photos of the children and families burning to death. They should prepare the list of those who will resign, those who will be dismissed, and those who will be tried themselves. If there is a conscience, they will be ashamed. If everything is about the wallet, then on to the next disaster.

When the hotel they guaranteed burns down, the culprit is someone else. Yet, the inspections, permits, and articles changed to make things easier for bosses are their own work. Like earthquakes, like zoning amnesties; like the lives of tens of thousands of people buried in concrete. Like occupational safety, like the health system.

At the end of the page that the Tourism Minister's tourism company dedicated to this "Very good... Family Hotel," there is also a standard note. But even that hurts and angers a person: "We are working for a special experience for you... We use cookies to offer a nice holiday experience... processing your personal data..."
