WHAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE FIRST MINIMUM WAGE MEETING?

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, who chaired the commission's first meeting on December 10, stated, "We hope to determine a fair minimum wage that considers the satisfaction of both the worker and employer sides by analyzing economic and social conditions in detail, such as protecting and increasing employment."

HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINED?

By law, the minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of 15 people, with five representatives each from the workers, employers, and the government. The worker side is represented by the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş), and the employer side is represented by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK). The commission determines the minimum wage that will be valid for the new year through 4 meetings to be held until the end of December.

WHEN AND AT WHAT TIME IS THE THIRD MINIMUM WAGE MEETING?

The first meeting took place on December 10, and the second meeting on December 16. The third meeting for the minimum wage will take place today at 11:30 AM.
