Following the marriage of 88-year-old businessman İnan Kıraç to 75-year-old Emine Alangoya, İnan Kıraç's daughter, İpek Kıraç, filed a lawsuit for the annulment of the marriage.
Following the complaint by İpek Kıraç, who alleged that her father's 'mental faculties' were not intact, the court decided that the Forensic Medicine Institute should prepare a report on İnan Kıraç. Kıraç, who appeared before the board, was diagnosed with dementia.
Toygun Atilla from Patronlar Dünyası reported on the questions asked to İnan Kıraç at the Forensic Medicine Institute and the responses Kıraç provided.
HE RECOGNIZED ERDOĞAN, BUT COULD NOT IDENTIFY İMAMOĞLU
While the Forensic Medicine Institute report included the questions İnan Kıraç could not answer, the conclusion section stated the following:
"As a result of the examination and psychometric evaluation conducted on February 26, 2025, and the interpretation of the information and findings obtained; it has been medically concluded that the individual is suffering from a state of dementia that is of such nature and degree as to affect legal capacity and eliminate the person's consciousness, freedom of movement, and ability to grasp events and reach sound conclusions; that due to this state of dementia, the person is not aware of their interests and cannot protect them, and cannot resist suggestions or initiate actions and transactions freely and independently in accordance with their own free will."
The report stated that when İnan Kıraç was asked about the legal dispute, he expressed that "his adopted daughter wants to take his assets and that his daughter claims he has dementia."
The report highlighted the following:
*He said his first wife (Suna Kıraç) passed away 40 years ago. He could not recall the year or day of her death.
*He could not identify that the building he was in at that moment was the Forensic Medicine Institute building.
*When asked to count the days of the week backwards, he could not count past Thursday.
*He could not draw a clock and place the numbers correctly.
*He could not answer questions regarding current events, such as earthquakes, fires, or national mourning.
*He knew that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was the President, but could not identify Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
*He said he owned six companies but could only name three.
*The board also noted in the report that during the examination, he occasionally tried to explain himself by saying, "I am not here today, I supposedly worked and came here."
