Maintenance and repair work nears completion: Turkish Parliament to open on October 1

Cleaning, maintenance, and repair work is nearing completion ahead of the new legislative year, which will begin in Parliament on Tuesday, October 1.

Following its recess after the July 29 session, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly will resume its work for the 3rd Legislative Year of the 28th Term on Tuesday, October 1, following two extraordinary meetings held on August 15 and 16.

PREPARATIONS NEARLY COMPLETE

Preparations carried out by the relevant units at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) ahead of the new legislative year have reached their final stage.

As part of maintenance and repair work, the marble flooring in the main building of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and the Ceremonial Stairs were repaired, and polishing procedures were carried out in these areas.

In addition to the chandeliers in the Ceremony Hall, the facade lighting of the main building and the surrounding lighting lamps have been replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps.

While periodic maintenance of all heating, cooling, and ventilation systems in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) was being carried out, all elevators in the TBMM, especially those for disabled access, also underwent maintenance.

OPERATIONAL TESTS CONDUCTED

Periodic maintenance and operational tests of the electronic voting, roll call, and sound systems were conducted in the General Assembly hall to ensure that legislative activities can be carried out effectively and without interruption.

The health unit located in the Hall of Honor, which serves as a first aid center and 112 emergency health station for rapid intervention in emergencies, provides services to members of parliament and staff at the General Assembly.

Following the parliamentary recess, an emergency button has been installed in the General Assembly's presidential council section to expedite medical interventions.

In this context, if the emergency button, which the deputy speaker presiding over the session can use in emergencies, is pressed, the medical team will reach the General Assembly with their equipment within approximately 1 minute.

HIGH WINDOWS CLEANED BY MOUNTAINEERS

While detailed cleaning was carried out on the office rooms belonging to party groups in the main building, as well as the lobbies and the seats in the group meeting halls, the high windows in the TBMM Main Building and the Public Relations Building were cleaned by professional teams certified in mountaineering.

Meanwhile, general cleaning of the nursery, daycare center, and kindergarten at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) was also carried out.
