The fire, which started at a vineyard house belonging to Mehmet B. in the Osmancık neighborhood of Manisa's Turgutlu district on June 29 at around 20:00, spread to the surrounding forest area in a short time. While approximately 5,000 square meters of land were damaged, the fire was brought under control with the intervention of teams, and cooling efforts were completed.
As a result of the investigation conducted by the gendarmerie and forestry teams, Özcan T. (31), who was at the vineyard house on the day of the incident, was taken into custody.
It was learned that in his statement, Özcan T. said, "I thought there was a tick on the pillow, so I burned the pillow. I extinguished it and threw it into the garden, I don't know what happened after that."
During the inspection carried out in the garden where the fire originated, a burnt barbecue was found.
It was determined that the fire broke out due to flames spreading from the pillow that was burned during the incident. The individual, who was taken into custody and whose interrogation was completed, was arrested by the judicial authorities to whom he was referred.
