MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli closes the door on early elections: Poll results show expectations
Following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's clear dismissal of discussions regarding the possibility of an early election, the topic has now been reflected in the results of public opinion polls.

In a survey conducted by ASAL Research in January 2026 with 2,000 participants across 26 provinces, citizens were asked, "Do you think an early general election should be held?"
According to the results of the research, 54.4 percent of the participants stated that an early general election should be held.
The rate of those who stated they were against an early election remained at 38 percent, while 7.6 percent of the respondents did not express an opinion on the matter.
The poll results revealed that the issue of early elections, which is frequently debated on the political agenda, has found strong support among the public.
The resulting picture demonstrated that despite Devlet Bahçeli's statements that "early elections will never be on the agenda," more than half of the voters are demanding an early election.

MHP Chairman Bahçeli had said, "The CHP Chairman's fixation on the early election mantra and his making of futile calls to me is pure political stupidity.
It is clear when the election will be held; there is no such thing as an early election, and it will never be on the agenda. Even if the CHP Chairman tries to pry open the election door, we, as the People's Alliance, know that the door we will seek is the main gate of Turkey and the Turkish Century."
