Minimum wage hike proposals from opposition party leaders: The highest is 46,000 TL
The Minimum Wage Commission will hold its first meeting on December 12. While millions wait with excitement for the upcoming raise, proposals from opposition parties have arrived one after another. Here are the minimum wage demands from the CHP, DEM, New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah), DEVA, and Future Party (Gelecek Partisi).

OZEL: AT LEAST 39 THOUSAND TL
The main opposition party CHP's minimum wage hikedemand is at least 39,000 liras. CHP leader Özgür Özel stated, "Today our proposal is that the minimum wage should be 39,000 liras.But would 39,000 liras be enough for a worker workingin Merter? It is not enough, but it would provide some relief.If some say, 'I will go bankrupt, I cannot pay,' and others say, 'I cannot make ends meet with this salary,' the state must step in and take a significant portion of this burden off the employer's back.We are stating it once again before history: The deserved salary is at least 39; we are not part of anything below this."
ERBAKAN: IT SHOULD BE 45,000 TL
The Yeniden Refah Party's minimum wage hikedemand is 45,000 TL. Saying "The minimum wage should be 45,000 TL," Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan added,"When I say this, there are employers around me too. They say, 'You speak well, but what will we do?' Here, I think the state has a duty again."
DEM PARTY'S MINIMUM WAGE DEMAND
DEM Party's minimum wage demand is 46,000 TL. DEM Party Co-Chair Tulay Hatimogullari said, "The minimumwage should be at least 46,000 liras.The minimum wage, which is a starting wage, should no longer be the average wage.The minimum wage should also be updated throughout the year to be at least half of the poverty line according to inflation increases."
DAVUTOGLU: IT SHOULD NOT BE BELOW 35,000 LIRAS
The Gelecek Party's minimum wage demand is 35,000 liras. Gelecek Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu stated, "Without going into the details of the calculation, I will say this: the minimum wage should not be below 40,000 liras gross and 35,000 liras net."
