Minimum wage is rising: How much will it be in 2025?
The countdown for the 2025 minimum wage hike has begun. Following the negotiations to be held by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission in December, salaries are expected to increase by around 30 percent. With this increase, many payments such as unemployment benefits, severance pay, GSS premiums, and the 65-plus pension will also be affected by the raise. WHICH PAYMENTS WILL CHANGE WITH THE RAISE?
The minimum wage increase also affects many other items.
Many payments, from unemployment benefits to the base for severance pay, and from GSS premiums to the 65-plus pension, will be affected by the raise.
Unemployment benefits range between 40 percent and 80 percent of the minimum wage. While the current highest unemployment benefit is 15,989 TL, it is expected to rise to 20 thousand 786 TL with a 30 percent raise.
The lowest unemployment benefit will increase from 7 thousand 994 TL to 10 thousand 393 TL.
SEVERANCE PAY AND OTHER PAYMENTS
The severance pay base is tied to the gross minimum wage for each year. The current amount is 20 thousand 2 TL, which will become 26 thousand 2 TL with a 30 percent increase.
GSS premiums are calculated based on 3 percent of the minimum wage. Premiums, which are currently 509 TL, could rise to 662 TL after the raise.
The 65-plus pension will increase from the current 3 thousand 993 TL to 5 thousand 190 TL.
The intern salary is expected to rise from 5 thousand 96 TL to 6 thousand 625 TL.
MILITARY SERVICE AND MATERNITY DEBT BUYBACK
Military service and maternity debt buyback amounts are determined at 32 percent of the minimum wage. The current daily amount is 213 TL, which will be 277 TL after a 30 percent raise.
DISABILITY PENSION AND VOLUNTARY INSURANCE PREMIUM
The disability pension will also be affected by the raise.
The current lowest amount of 2 thousand 792 TL will become 3 thousand 629 TL in the new period.
The highest payment will increase from 4 thousand 188 TL to 5 thousand 444 TL.
The voluntary insurance premium, which is currently 6 thousand 395 TL, will be 8 thousand 314 TL after the raise.
WHAT DO EXPERTS SAY?
Speaking to Milliyet, Certified Public Accountant Ahmet Kurtuluş states that there is a desire to evaluate the minimum wage increase based on expected inflation and says that the labor side will sit at the table with a demand for an increase that includes a welfare share.
