Minister Uraloğlu had signaled it: When will Discord be shut down? How to close Discord?

The messaging and social media platform Discord, which has recently become popular among young people, has been making headlines with allegations of blackmail, pedophilia, and sexual abuse.

While the question of whether an access ban will be imposed on the platform remains at the center of the debate, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made assessments regarding the issue.

Uraloğlu stated that in the meeting they held over the weekend with the Ministries of Interior, Justice, and Family and Social Services, all kinds of measures were evaluated for the purpose of protecting young people.

"We are not consulting on the issue of imposing access bans with a prohibitive mindset, but rather by taking the necessary steps. No decision has been made yet," the Minister said, emphasizing that the process is ongoing.

Minister Uraloğlu also issued important warnings to families, stating that children's internet usage should be closely monitored and adding, "There may be malicious individuals on the internet; families need to be more careful to protect our children."

WHAT IS DISCORD?

Discord is a social platform that allows users to communicate via text, voice, and video.

Although it was initially designed for gaming communities, it has over time become popular for groups and communities with different interests to come together as well.

Users can create servers, open channels, and chat with other members. They can also customize their experience with bots and integrations. Discord is widely used for interacting while playing games with friends or participating in discussions.

According to a report by NTV, the abuse of the Discord application may involve certain malicious behaviors that threaten user safety. Such abuses may include the following:

Social Engineering: Fraudsters may use fake identities or offers to seize users' personal information or accounts.

Spam and Annoying Messages: Users may receive annoying or unwanted messages. This type of spam is usually sent by bots.

Malware: Malicious users may attempt to damage other users' devices by sharing harmful software.

Harassment and Bullying: Users may disturb or bully others. This can occur through text, voice, or video communication.

Account Takeover: Gaining control of accounts by exploiting security vulnerabilities or guessing users' passwords.

To delete your Discord account, you can follow these steps:

Log in to Discord: Open the Discord app on your computer or mobile device, or log in to Discord via a web browser.

Settings: Open the settings menu by clicking on the profile icon in the bottom right corner.

Account Tab: Click on the "Account" tab from the menu on the left.

Delete Account: Find the "Delete Account" option at the bottom of the page. When you click on this option, you will be asked to confirm that you want to delete your account.

Confirmation: Follow the necessary steps to confirm that you want to delete your account. If you are using two-factor authentication, you may need to enter the confirmation code.

Complete: Once you provide confirmation, your account will be deleted. This action cannot be undone, so please be sure.

If you are an administrator on a server, you may need to transfer server ownership to someone else before deleting your account.
