Mother assaults 10-year-old child following primary school students' dispute

The incident occurred on Monday, May 18, at Piri Reis Primary School in the central Selçuklu district. According to information obtained, 10-year-old M.Ç.A., a 4th-grade primary school student who reportedly transferred to the school last year after his family moved to Konya, had a dispute with a classmate. Following the dispute, the classmate's mother came to the school and assaulted M.Ç.A. while he was heading to a park next to the school. After M.Ç.A. went home and recounted the event, his family went to the hospital and obtained a medical report documenting the assault. The father, Adem Aksoy, informed the other family of the situation and subsequently went to the police station to file a complaint.

"I filed a complaint after obtaining the assault report"

Describing the day of the incident, M.Ç.A.'s father, Aksoy, said, "We have been facing the same problems for about a year, and we haven't been able to make our child feel comfortable at school. We didn't take it seriously at first, thinking that disputes between children are normal. Later, I told the school administration about this situation, suggesting, 'Let's change his class.' On the day of the incident, the children came to school; there was nothing wrong at school, but in the peer environment, they didn't want him in the class, saying, 'You came later, don't play with us,' and they constantly tried to exclude him. That day, my son left school with his friend to go play in the park.

The other party, the child's mother, attacked my child directly, saying things like, 'How can you speak badly to my son, how can you hit him?' I asked my child, and he said, 'I didn't do anything.' The woman who arrived grabbed the child's arms, pinned them to himself, and then made him hit his own head repeatedly. His arms are bruised, there are bruises on the child's back, and there are also bruises on his legs where she hit him. When the child went home and cried, we asked, 'What happened?' He said, 'My friend's mother assaulted me.' I looked at the child, and he was covered in bruises. I took him to the hospital, obtained an assault report, and then filed a complaint," he said.

"I cannot send my child to school at all"

Stating that his child has been psychologically affected by the incident, Aksoy said, "It is a terrible feeling; no one has the right to beat anyone else's child. They are children, it happens. They fight today, they make up tomorrow. They might play together the next day. They are children after all, I have no issue with them. I expected the family to apologize. They didn't apologize. I called the child's grandfather, told him, and explained the situation. I said, 'The children had a dispute among themselves, there are issues, just so you are aware.' They didn't call back either. They didn't apologize. So I went and filed a complaint. Because the same problem happens all the time, my child's mental health has deteriorated. I cannot send my child to school at all," he said.
