Mother moves to district to fulfill her disabled daughter's dream of theater: "My daughter is very happy here"

36-year-old Zübeyde Dinçer, one of the four children of Havva and Orhan Dinçer living in the Gelik town of the district, was taken to the hospital due to a high fever when she was 1.5 years old. Diagnosed with meningitis by doctors, Dinçer received treatment in various hospitals for a long time due to muscle spasms that occurred in her body after spending 21 days in intensive care.

CARRIED HER TO SCHOOL ON HER BACK FOR YEARS

Mother Dinçer carried her daughter, who remained physically disabled after the illness, on her back for years to take her to school, rehabilitation centers, and social activities.

"SHE IS VERY INTERESTED IN THEATER"

While attending a painting course, Zübeyde Dinçer learned about the "Special Players Theater Troupe" formed by theater writer and director Nuray Dibek and joined the team after expressing her desire to be a part of it.

PARTICIPATED IN REHEARSALS WITH HER DAUGHTER FOR 5 YEARS

For about 5 years, Dinçer came to the Youth Center in the district center twice a week from the town where she lived with her mother's support to participate in rehearsals and took part in the troupe's plays.

Over time, with the support of the team members, Dinçer improved her reading and memorization and began to take on more active roles.

SISTER BOUGHT A HOUSE, MOVED TO THE DISTRICT

Dinçer's other daughter, Ayşe Mine Gül Dinçer, bought a house for her sister in the district center so she could make it to rehearsals on time.

Having moved to the district center with her mother, Dinçer now never misses a rehearsal and spends most of her time with her beloved teammates.

Currently working on staging a one-act play titled "Halime," which tells the story of an unfinished love, Dinçer finds a connection to life through theater.

"She cares for her like her own child"

Havva Dinçer said that they took Zübeyde to the hospital at the age of 1.5 due to a high fever and learned that she had meningitis.

Explaining that Zübeyde stayed in intensive care for 21 days, Dinçer stated that when she regained consciousness, she had spasms in her body, and that they took her to many hospitals for years but could not get results.

"We cannot stay apart, we cannot live without each other"

Mentioning that she is always by her daughter's side, Dinçer said, "I call her, 'The key to my house, the owner of my house.' She adds life to my life. She reminds me of what I have forgotten; she is my friend, my mother, my everything, Zübeyde. We cannot stay apart and we cannot live without each other."

Stating that she takes her daughter to various events for socialization, Dinçer added the following:

"She doesn't sleep at night from excitement when she is going to come here"

"Zübeyde learned about the existence of the theater. Zübeyde is also very happy to be here. She doesn't sleep at night when she is going to come here. She loves her friends very much. She says, 'I'm glad I met them, I have friends.'"

Explaining that her youngest daughter is an academic and bought them a house in the district center because she saw that her older sister had difficulty coming to the events, Dinçer said, "She buys everything she needs, she doesn't let anything be missing. Now she even bought us a house."

Dinçer explained that her daughter being here also contributed to her development, saying, "They gave her a paper, she is trying to read and memorize. She continues this at home too. It strengthened her reading. She knew a little, but now it is better."

"ZÜBEYDE IS LIVING HER DREAM HERE"

Nuray Dibek stated that Zübeyde did not have roles based on memorization at first, but as she got used to the environment and the team, she showed more perseverance and further improved her reading.

"Creating such social spaces is a need for our children with special needs"

Stating that Zübeyde is living her dream here, Dibek said, “She reflects this to us as well. We are also happy that we have made such a contribution. Such places are a necessity for our children with special needs.

It is a great need for them to embrace life and make it more meaningful. As they become happy, we become happy too."

"THIS PLACE IS BEYOND MY DREAMS FOR ME"

Zübeyde Dinçer, on the other hand, stated that she is happy to be in the theater team and said, "I am glad they entered my life, I am very happy to be with them. They brought joy to my life.

"I used to be pessimistic, but when I came here, I met my cheerful self"

I used to be pessimistic, but when I came here, I encountered my cheerful self. I am surprised, asking if this is me. I would always want such things to happen. I would try to come every day if it were every day.

I am truly living my dreams here. This place is beyond my dreams for me, I love this place very much, I am very pleased to be here."
