Narin's cousins reached: Support efforts intensified

Initial findings from psychosocial support efforts conducted with the family and relatives of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in Diyarbakır, have revealed that children have been deeply affected by the incident.

As part of the efforts initiated by the Ministry of Family and Social Services in the Tavşantepe neighborhood, it was determined that Narin's cousins are experiencing increased feelings of fear and anxiety due to the incident.

The "Tavşantepe Special Team," established by the Department of Psychosocial Support in Disasters and Emergencies under the Ministry of Family and Social Services, is conducting a comprehensive support operation in the village.

The team, consisting of expert psychologists and psychological counselors, first conducted one-on-one interviews with Narin's 14 cousins under the age of 18.

As a result of the interviews, it was determined that anxiety and fear levels, particularly among younger cousins, had increased, and that some children were unable to continue attending school due to social pressure.

Experts pointed out that these children should be monitored regularly and that the process should be managed with psychological support.

During psychosocial support efforts, it was determined that some cousins were absent from school, and the district directorate of national education officials were informed.

It has been assessed that children's regular attendance in their educational lives is important for them to regain their psychological well-being.

It was determined that some of the cousins negatively affected by the incident have improved following psychological support and are continuing their education.

The expert team stated that more comprehensive studies will be initiated following the completion of the investigation.
