New development in the newborn gang investigation: Statements of hospital owners revealed
The statements of Dr. Ali Aksu and Ayşe Müzeyyen Yurtoğlu, two of the owners of the 10 hospitals whose operations were suspended as part of the 'Newborn Gang' investigation, have been revealed. The suspects denied the accusations against them and argued that there was no unethical situation in their hospitals.

As part of the Newborn Gang investigation, the operations of 10 hospitals were suspended and their operating licenses were revoked.
According to a report by Habertürk, Dr. Ali Aksu, owner of the private Birinci Hospital, and Ayşe Müzeyyen Yurtoğlu, owner of the private Güney Hospital, were among those processed as suspects in the investigation. The testimonies of Yurtoğlu and Aksu, who were among the 47 people detained and subsequently released, have been entered into the investigation file.
Dr. Ali Aksu, who gave his statement as a suspect, stated that he has been actively working since 2003 and said, "I am the owner and manager of companies such as Birinci Eye Hospital, Birinci Dental Hospital, Argıs Pharmaceuticals, and Beymed Health. I do not have any nickname or alias."
When asked by the prosecutor, "Who do you know?", Aksu stated that he knows individuals such as Dursun Eryılmaz, Fehmi Alperen, Fırat Sarı, Gıyasettin Mert Özdemir, Hakan Doğukan Taşçı, Şeyhmus Çelik, and Ahmet Atilla Yılmaz, but that there is no hostility between them.
Regarding his mobile phone conversations with Fırat Sarı, who is identified as the gang leader, Aksu said, "My conversations with Fırat Sarı were routine work-related discussions. There is no illegal content in my conversations." He emphasized that the companies he manages are overseen by general managers and that the responsibility lies with these individuals.
Ayşe Müzeyyen Yurtoğlu, owner of the private Güney Hospital whose license was revoked, was also among those who gave statements as part of the investigation. Denying the accusations, Yurtoğlu said, "I am a partner in the hospital named Istanbul Esenler Güney Health Services. No action has been taken against me before, and I have not received any criminal convictions."
Regarding the names mentioned by the prosecutor, Yurtoğlu said, "Damla Atak and Damla Korkmaz are nurses working at our hospital. Fırat Sarı was a pediatric doctor, but we have parted ways with him."
Regarding the Kaya baby incident, Yurtoğlu said, "The baby, born at 27 weeks and weighing 500 grams, came to our hospital. Everything necessary was done, but the baby could not be saved because their condition was poor. The necessary interventions were performed at our hospital; following an inspection, our intensive care unit was temporarily downgraded to level one due to some deficiencies. After the deficiencies were completed, we received registration as a level three unit again."
Denying the allegations that newborn intensive care units were rented out, Yurtoğlu stated, "We purchased services from Dr. Fırat Sarı, but we did not rent out any part of the hospital. The agreements made in exchange for services were paid against issued receipts."
Stating that she has been in the healthcare sector for approximately 45 years, Yurtoğlu said, "I have never engaged in any action that would cause financial loss to the Social Security Institution (SGK). I have been slandered by former employees, and I reserve my legal rights against them." She concluded her defense by stating that she does not accept the accusations against her.
