Özgür Özel had left the door open for his candidacy: Why is Mansur Yavaş silent? 'He hasn't given up'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı asked nationalist circles what Mansur Yavaş, who would be nominated if Ekrem İmamoğlu's presidential candidacy from the CHP is blocked by the YSK, is doing.

In his column, Altaylı recalled that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who participated in the Teke Tek program, said, "My candidacy is not on the table. Our candidate is İmamoğlu until the end, but if he is prevented from entering the election through various games, then we will win the election with Mansur Yavaş," and wrote the following:

"Speaking of Mansur Yavaş, I wondered what the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality was doing amidst all this.

Because he was silent. He was not making any statements, was not getting involved in the process, and was carefully avoiding speaking.

I tried to get information from nationalist circles.

What I learned is as follows:

– He was not speaking because he was afraid of being misunderstood.

– He was not making statements because he did not want to appear opportunistic.

– He was avoiding appearing too much on stage, fearing it would create the impression that he was stealing the spotlight or trying to show himself off.

– He did not want to become fodder for the government.

So what was he doing?

He was preparing for a presidential candidacy.

He knew that a lot of water would flow under the bridge until 2028, that today's balances would not remain the same, and that the ground was very unstable.

He is adding new names to his team, trying to strengthen his organization, and working on methods to reach young people.

A person who knows him well said, 'He hasn't given up. But he thinks it is not the time to speak. Mr. Mansur will not move until İmamoğlu steps out.'

I corrected him by saying, 'Until everything becomes clear.'"
