Özlem, who received a prison sentence after letting others use her IBAN, surrendered in tears: 11 cases against her are ongoing
In Adana, 23-year-old Özlem Develi, who trusted a friend and allowed them to use her IBAN, resulting in 20 lawsuits being filed against her—11 of which are still ongoing—and who was wanted for a finalized 4-year and 5-month prison sentence from one of these cases, has surrendered to the police. The young woman said goodbye to her family in tears before being taken to prison.

Living in Adana, 23-year-old Özlem Develi allegedly became friends with a person named M.D. while attending a prep school in 2023. M.D. gained Develi's trust and proposed, "I am trading. My accounts are blocked, could you let me use your IBAN for a short time?"
Develi opened an account at a private bank and gave it to her friend to use. During this process, Develi became suspicious when M.D. stopped coming to the prep school. 15 days later, she was summoned to the police station, where she learned that proceedings had been initiated against her for fraud and a lawsuit had been filed. The young woman explained the situation to the police, filed a complaint against M.D., and subsequently closed her bank account. It was revealed that before the account was closed, M.D. had organized raffles on social media platforms and demanded money from the winners.
People who paid the money but did not receive the products they won in the raffles filed complaints against Özlem Develi. Develi entered prison last June.
After staying in prison for a while and being released, the young woman received a 4-year and 5-month prison sentence and a 149,960 TL administrative fine as a result of a case heard at the Burdur 2nd High Criminal Court last week. Of the 20 cases filed against the young woman, 11 are still ongoing in various courts across the country.
She was wanted, she surrendered
Özlem, who gave an interview while she was wanted on January 22 and moved all of Turkey to tears, surrendered to police teams yesterday from her home in the Yüreğir district. The young woman bid farewell to her mother and father and was taken to the Tarsus Women's Closed Penal Institution.
"Let justice be served"
Stating that his daughter is innocent and that they are waiting for help, father Ahmet Develi said, "Let the real criminals be revealed. Let justice be served. Hear our desperation; they are taking my daughter away for something she did not do."

Bursting into tears while saying, "I did not defraud anyone," Özlem stated, "Everything I have can be examined; it will be revealed that I did not do it. Enough is enough."
