Police officer kills sleeping wife and 2 children before committing suicide: He had come on leave from Şırnak
A riot police officer who had come on leave from Şırnak to his mother-in-law's house in Denizli, where his wife and children were staying, caused a tragedy. The police officer shot and killed his sleeping wife and 2 children with his service pistol, then committed suicide with the same weapon.

The incident occurred this morning around 06:45 at a house on 1731 Street in the Karaman neighborhood of Denizli's Merkezefendi district.
According to the information obtained, 35-year-old police officer Coşkun Söylemez, who did not take his family with him to his new post after being assigned to the Şırnak Cizre District Police Department Riot Police Branch, had arrived 3 days ago for annual leave at the house of his mother-in-law, Havva Kovan, where his wife and two children were living.
HE SHOT THEM WHILE THEY WERE ASLEEP
Riot police officer Coşkun Söylemez shot his 31-year-old wife Nazlı Söylemez, his 7-year-old son Yağız Söylemez, and his 2-year-old daughter Duru Söylemez once in the head while they were sleeping in the early hours of the morning, and then shot himself in the head with the same weapon.
Hearing the gunshots, the mother-in-law ran outside in distress and asked her neighbors for help. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the area.
Examinations by the health teams determined that the mother and her children had lost their lives.
Coşkun Söylemez, who was taken into an ambulance in critical condition, also lost his life on the way while being transported to Denizli State Hospital.
The bodies of the 4-member family who lost their lives in the incident were taken to the forensic medicine morgue for autopsy. The cries of the family's relatives during the removal of the bodies from the house were heartbreaking.
It was learned that the couple Coşkun and Nazlı Söylemez were married in 2017. It is alleged that Coşkun Söylemez, who left his family with his mother-in-law while going to his eastern duty station, had debts of around 6-7 million liras to the market due to real estate development work, and that he committed the murders as a result of a depression he entered because he could only secure a portion of this amount from his circle when he came on leave.
