Candidates who wish to be appointed as guards in prisons under the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses affiliated with the Ministry of Justice have begun waiting for the guard recruitment applications.

Applications for the recruitment of contract-based correctional officers, which include requirements such as having obtained the necessary score from the KPSSP3 score type for undergraduate graduates, KPSSP93 for associate degree graduates, and KPSSP94 for secondary education graduates, have started to be searched for frequently with the arrival of November.

HOW TO APPLY FOR GUARD RECRUITMENT?

Candidates are expected to have obtained at least 70 points from the KPSSP3 score type for undergraduate graduates, KPSSP93 for associate degree graduates, and KPSSP94 for secondary education graduates.

Candidates with a KPSS P94 score type can make preferences for two years.

Applications will be made using the Ministry of Justice/Job application screen, which will become active at the address https://www.turkiye.gov.tr.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A GUARD?

In 2023, the application requirements for correctional officer recruitment by the Ministry of Justice were as follows;

a) To be a Turkish citizen,

b) Not to be deprived of public rights, and even if the periods specified in Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code have passed; not to have been convicted of a crime committed intentionally for a period of one year or more, or even if pardoned, not to have been convicted of crimes against the security of the state, crimes against the constitutional order and the functioning of this order, (...) embezzlement, extortion, bribery, theft, fraud, forgery, abuse of trust, fraudulent bankruptcy, rigging a bid, rigging the performance of an act, laundering assets derived from crime, or smuggling,

c) To have no connection with military service, or not to have reached the age of military service, or if they have reached the age of military service, to have completed their active military service, or to have had it postponed or transferred to the reserve class,

ç) For the security investigation and archive research to result positively,

d) For personnel to be employed in the title of correctional officer in penal execution institutions; to document this with a health board report to be obtained from full-fledged State Hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health within the scope of the Regulation on Health Conditions Required for Those to be Appointed to the Title of Correctional Officer of the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses dated 14.09.2021,

e) For all titles other than correctional officers to be employed in a penal execution institution; according to clause "c" of the 18th paragraph of Article 6 of the "Special Conditions" section of the Ministry of Justice Personnel Examination, Appointment and Transfer Regulation; to document with a health board report to be obtained from full-fledged State hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, which will be determined as regional hospitals by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses, that they do not have any mental illness or physical disability that would prevent them from performing their duties continuously, and that they do not have obstacles such as strabismus, blindness, lameness, hearing loss, permanent facial disfigurement, loss of limb, stuttering, and similar obstacles,

f) To have obtained at least 70 points from the KPSSP3 score type for undergraduate graduates, KPSSP93 for associate degree graduates, and KPSSP94 for secondary education graduates in the 2022 Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS) for the practical exam and/or oral exam to be conducted by justice commissions,

g) To have completed the age of 18 as of 11.05.2023, which is the deadline for the application for the exam to be held; as of the first day of January of the year in which the central exam (KPSS-2022) was held; not to have completed the age of 30 for correctional officers (those born on or after January 01, 1992, will be able to apply for the exam); and not to have completed the age of 35 for seafarers, technicians, office personnel (penal execution institution clerk), support personnel (cook, boiler operator, driver), health officers, and nurses (those born on or after January 01, 1987, will be able to apply for the exam),

ğ) To meet the requirements sought in special laws or other legislation related to the class in which they will serve.
